The Trier Hospital also includes a nurses' residence with a total of 36 flats, which is occupied by nuns. During the upcoming complete renovation, it was imperative that the shower area be barrier-free. However, this could only be realised with the Plancofix floor drainage pump, as the wastewater could no longer be disposed of in the free fall when the shower area was lowered.

Where to put the shower wastewater?
The local plumbing and heating specialist Dietsch & Greinert GmbH was commissioned with the complete renovation of 36 bathrooms. It quickly became clear that a floor-level shower could not be implemented with conventional technology. It was not without reason that the previous shower trays were installed at a height of approx. 30 cm above the floor. This made it possible to channel the shower wastewater into the existing wastewater pipework. The client's wish for barrier-free showers therefore required creative ideas.

Michael Stüber, site manager at Dietsch & Greinert came across the Plancofix, which solves exactly this problem. "The Plancofix floor drain has a reliable, quiet pump that pumps the wastewater into higher-level wastewater pipes," Michael Stüber is pleased to say, " only a completely tiled drain is visible from the outside, which requires no additional space and can be inconspicuously integrated into the shower area."

Due to very different floor structures in the old bathrooms (wood or concrete), the floor drain pump was integrated into commercially available building panel systems. These were able to optimally compensate for the different floor conditions.

For the senior citizens in the sisters' home in Trier, barrier-free showers not only have a design aspect, but also a significant safety aspect. The trip-free entry into and exit from the shower provides a clear plus in comfort and safety.

Technology in disguise
The Plancofix is a compact, stable plastic container in which a synchronous motor drives a hydraulic system that raises the shower water up to 2.5 metres. The total installation height of the floor drain is 9 cm. The maximum delivery volume reaches 30 l/min. A shower channel can also be connected to the Plancofix by means of additional inlets. The pump is switched on or off by means of a mechanical float. The VDE-tested floor drainage pump is protected with a 30 mA fuse within the building's electrical system.

Cleaning of the tank and the pump hydraulics is easy. A stainless steel cover, which can be tiled, serves as an inspection flap. The components of the Plancofix are easy to remove and can be cleaned under clear water.
